Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen secretary general Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari has demanded of Pakistani state that Gilgit-Baltistan be granted full Constitutional rights forthwith.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad he cited that people of Gilgit-Baltistan turned down separatism and wanted annexation with Pakistan. He referred that people of Gilgit-Baltistan sacrificed their lives in defence of Pakistan. He lamented that despite sacrifices for Pakistan, they were not granted full Constitutional rights.
He said it was unjustifiable to impose taxes on people of Gilgit-Baltistan without granting them their due rights as citizens of Pakistan or province of Pakistan.
It is relevant to add here that even tribal area situated on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border have representation in the Parliament of Pakistan with special status as FATA but Gilgit-Baltistan have not been given representation in the Parliament of Pakistan.
Allama Raja Nasir backed the legitimate demand of the anti-tax protesters and said that the protesters have a principled stance that must be accepted.
