Shia Muslims Moharram congregations have been exempted from loud speaker act but Punjab government has gagged Shia scholars denying their fundamental right to observe annual mourning of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain (AS) and other martyrs of Karbala.
The decision to exempt Shia Muslims Moharram congregations and processions from loud speaker act was announced at a high level meeting of the administration officials with Shia representatives in Karachi.
Punjab is ruled by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz that had a tilt towards takfiris of proscribed outfits and sometimes they made local alliance with proscribed ASWJ. Shia Muslims have demanded of the Punjab government to learn lesson from past mistakes and break-off all sorts of ties with the takfiris. They demanded freedom to Shia Muslims to exercise their fundamental religious rights.
