Bahrain’s highest religious authority Sheikh Isa Qassim said on Monday that the rejection of the Trump administration’s Palestine plan was equal to rejecting “slavery”.
AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahrain’s highest religious authority Sheikh Isa Qassim said on Monday that the rejection of the Trump administration’s Palestine plan was equal to rejecting “slavery”.
Sheikh Qassim made the remarks at a conference in the Iranian city of Qom just hours before Bahrain was due to host a US-led meeting on Washington’s proposal for solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict – also known as the “deal of the century”. Expectations
are low after the Palestinians boycotted the Bahrain conference and rejected the proposal, which promises financial investments but ignores the decades-long Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.
“The ‘deal of the century’ is a sale [transaction] and a pledge of allegiance,” Sheikh Qassim said.
“You sell everything for millions of dollars and you are pledging your allegiance to Trump. You are putting your hands with Trump’s and not God’s,” he added.
The senior cleric also described both the conference and the deal as “crimes” and a “test” that was checking the “pulse of [the region’s] religious conscience.”
