GILGIT-BALTISTAN LAWMAKER SAYS SC VERDICT DISAPPOINTED GB PEOPLE

Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Gilgit-Baltistan Bibi Salima has stated that Supreme Court of Pakistan has disappointed people of that region immensely.
The female politician belonging to the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen has questioned the legitimacy of CPEC and Bhasha Dam projects in the backdrop of the SC judgment on the constitutional status of Gilgit-Baltistan.
She said that if the Gilgit-Baltistan is a disputed territory then how China-Pakistan Economic Corridor passes through it and how Diamer-Bhasha Dam is constructed here.
“The Supreme Court has weakened people and empowered bureaucracy,” MWM’s MLA noted, adding that powers of Chief Minister and Governor have been curtailed by that verdict.
She said that people have turned down the SC verdict. She emphasised that all parties and groups should join hands to begin a movement to determine the status of Gilgit-Baltistan. Bibi Salima urged all stakeholders to unite for legitimate inalienable rights of Gilgit-Baltistan.
