MWM LEADER DEMANDS VOTING RIGHTS FOR OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS

Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen political affairs head Syed Asad Abbas Naqvi has said on behalf of the leading Shia party that overseas Pakistanis must be allowed to vote in elections because participation in elections in fundamental right of all eligible Pakistani citizens.
“However, objections relating to transparency of e-voting should be removed,” he said, speaking at a seminar on political awareness.
He said MWM also participated in the conference called by Supreme Court on this issue and presented their stance there.
He said that their delegation also met Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar on the sidelines of the conference and apprised him that 8 million Pakistanis living abroad nowadays should not be denied voting rights and they should be allowed to participate in the electoral process like other countries allow their citizens to vote from abroad.
