Sahibzada Abul Khair Zubair, President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (Noorani), who also heads a religious parties’ alliance Milli Yakjehti Council, has urged the government of Pakistan to accept the friendly and brotherly offer of neighbouring Islamic country Iran regarding participation in Chabahar port project.
He welcomed the statement of Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif during his visit to Pakistan. He asked Pakistan government to link Gwadar port with Iranian Chabahar port and also invest in the Iranian project.
The Sunni party leader said acceptance of the Iranian offer would help strengthen relations between two Islamic countries. He said Pakistan’s participation in the Chabahar port project would help Pakistan counter Indian influence, as well. He lamented that Pakistan bowed to US pressure and distanced itself from Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project while India rejected the external pressure and joined Iranian Chabahar port project hence now time is ripe for Pakistan to turn down the external pressure and begin work on IP gas pipeline project and complete it forthwith.
He said his proposals, if accepted, would bring Pakistan more closer to Iran and strengthen its socio-economic and geostrategic relations with Iran that is a brotherly and friendly Islamic nation.
