AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said in a report that infant mothers are among the most vulnerable in Yemen lacking basic public services, including maternal and child support.
According to the report, all maternal and child services are on the verge of total collapse. A mother and six babies die every two hours in Yemen because of complications during pregnancy or childbirth.
The continuing war in Yemen has worsened the situation of women and children at birth in a country that was already the poorest country in the Middle East and one of the poorest Countries of the world even before the escalation of the war of aggression by early 2015.
"Only 51% of all health facilities are fully operational, and there is a severe shortage of medicines, equipment and staff. Home deliveries are also rising, as families are getting poorer every day," UNICEF said.
