Shia Muslims staged a demonstration in Multan to register protest against the maltreatment and callousness of the state and government authorities due to which Zaireen (Shia pilgrims) remain stuck on Taftan border town without essential facilities and as a result of that three pilgrims have died there.
The protest demonstration was held under the aegis of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen at Nawan Shehar Chowk. Protesters were carrying banners and raising slogans against the government.
MWM Multan secretary general Mirza Wajahat Ali and Syed Mujahid Abbas Gardezi of Pakistan Azadari Council spoke to the protesters. They lashed out the PTI government for their failure to resolve the problems faced by Zaireen. They said that despite the government assurance, no facility was provided to Shia pilgrims at Taftan border town.
They said three Zaireen died because of lack of needed facilities since there was cold weather and no medical facility was available for them. They demanded the government to take remedial steps and rescue the stuck pilgrims and must ensure that all such problems must be resolved prior to the travel of Arbaeen (Chehlum) Zaireen who set to leave for Karbala via Iran through Taftan land border.
