A delegation of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen called on Punjab Minister for Religious Affairs and Auqaf Pir Saeedul Hassan to discuss the issue of representation of Shia Muslims in Muttahida Ulema Board of the province. They demanded that Shia Muslims be granted equal representation in the Board.
Led by Political Affairs head Syed Asad Abbas Naqvi, MWM delegation comprised of MPA Syeda Zahra Naqvi, Allama Mubarak Mousavi, Jamiatul Mustafa Lahore Principal Syed Hussain Najafi Hassan Kazmi, Allama Hassan Hamdani and Rana Majid Ali.
The delegation lodged complaint against unfair composition in the reconstituted Punjab Muttahida Ulema Board. It said that Shia representation was reduced to half. It demanded that as per past practices, all Islamic schools of thought should have equal representation in that Board.
Minister Pir Saeedul Hassan agreed with their stance and assured that he would play his due role in addressing their concerns and correct the incorrect composition.
