Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen has urged PTI-led government to act upon its words, promises and pledges it made to the nation on the issue of missing persons ensuring their release immediately.
MWM deputy information secretary Syed Hasnain Zaidi said that the issue of missing persons is related to fundamental human rights. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and Federal Minister Shireen Mazari had been speaking against enforced disappearance for which the term missing persons is used in Pakistan.
He reminded the rulers that rule of law in Pakistan requires implementation of the Constitution which unambiguously guarantee protection to citizens against undeclared and illegal detention and also make it obligatory upon the authorities to produce the person they arrest, in the court of law within 24 hours and the arrested person has constitutional right to defend him in the court through lawyer of his choice.
Hasnain Zaidi urged the government to establish rule of law. He also demanded capital punishment to the terrorists involved in genocide against Shia Muslims in Dera Ismail Khan and rest of the country.
