Shia Ulema Council chief Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi has rejected government approach to sort out problems by introducing new legislation and said that rule of law is needed to establish peace in Pakistan.
“Rule of law and not new laws are needed in the country,” he said, talking to delegates who called on him.
Veteran Shia Islamic scholar said that whenever any tragedy occurs, the country witness hue and cry, sloganeering, repetition of oft-repeated statements for stern action, measures and demands. He said such a mindset would never resolve anything in Pakistan.
He said that the government and all stakeholders should agree on a mechanism and devise a system after thorough consultation to establish rule of law. Otherwise, no new law would help sort out anything.
Similarly, he said, Paigham-e-Pakistan may be a good document but it doesn’t mean it should be incorporated in laws because laws already existed but those need to be implemented.
